Dua Lipa was born 22nd august 1995, in London, United Kingdom. In 2014, following a career as a model and actress, she signed with Warner Bros Records. She launched her self-titled debut album in the year 2017. The album peaked at third place at the U.K. Albums Chart and was followed by eight singles which included Be the One I.D.G.A.F and the U.K. Number One single New Rules which peaked at number six on the charts in the United States. Lipa has won Brit Awards in 2018 for category of British Female Artist and British Breakthrough Act. Additionally, the platinum album has been praised in multiple countries. She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. Her mother is Bosnian. Her family tree can be tracked back to the Kosovo cities of Peja. Her grandfathers were both historians. Lipa is the younger sister of Rina Lipa, and has an older brother called Gjin. The musical influence of Lipa's came from her father, who is the lead singer and guitarist of the Kosovan Rock band Oda. In the family, her father would continue playing music which included his own compositions and songs by David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa was only five when she started singing. At the age of nine she began to learn how to sing. Lipa recorded the song If I Ain't Got You from Alicia Keys and Beautiful by Christina Aguilera for YouTube. In 2014, Lipa signed a record deal to Warner Bros. Records. She released her first single New Love in August of 2015.
