Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on October 28, 1967, in Atlanta. She belongs to four generations of the Robertses to reside in the Atlanta area, starting by her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father had the first interest to the theatre. He was a part of his Emory University campus in 1952 and also in a variety of productions in Atlanta. While stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, he was inducted into the air force in the year 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was in that production as well. Eric Anthony was their first born. The couple was married in the year 1957. Walter attended Tulane University at New Orleans in the year 1957, after they had separated from the US Air Force. Walter was employed to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to work on the set of Bum Bum and His Buddies in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local children's Saturday morning television program Bum Bum and His Buddies, which they funded themselves. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou founded their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. It lasted for six years. The couple also had two children, Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa) and Julia Billingsley (1967) (also known as Julie).
