The shadows she observed on the lawn inspired her to spend months developing an approach that in contrast did not portray the object she chose onto canvas. The subject instead transforms into a reproduction of itself, where the surface transforms into the medium for it's own painterly interpretation, especially in the case of living or perishable items, such as people or fruits. Photographs and painting are together to produce an unflattering two-dimensional space that is trompe-l'oeil. Certain places three dimensions are observed, such as close to the eyes or in the hair. Meade often blends her painted characters into the 3-dimensional world surrounding the figures. They interact within the self-created world.
